This project engages with the aesthetics of the everyday through an exploration of the enclosed spaces of St. Petersburg's courtyard-wells. Rejecting the panoramic, "postcard" view, the camera focuses on isolated fragments of walls and objects that usually remain on the periphery of vision.

Following the method of New Objectivity, the project seeks to present the material essence of space.

The tangle of wires, a plaster beacon, or the dark aperture of a window are captured outside their functional context and transformed into self-sufficient visual facts.
